Invitational Group Exhibitions

1989 Partners in Purchase Retrospective Exhibit, State of Illinois Art Gallery, September 18, 1989-November 9, 1989. Relief sculpture, Predator 9, 16 x 28 x 4", bronze, 1982. Eighty-one pieces including drawings, paintings, photographs, prints, sculptures, films, and videos selected from thirty-four institutions throughout Illinois, comprise the exhibit. The works are representative samples of purchases made during the eleven-year duration of this outreach program. By presenting the outstanding works the Partners in Purchase Program sponsored, this exhibit is a significant and telling retrospective celebrating the program's success.

1979 "32nd Annual Mid-States Art Exhibition," Evansville Museum of Arts and Sciences, Evansville, Indiana. Juror: Thomas M. Messer, Director, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York City. One work exhibited: Predators, two bronze panels, each 16" x 21", exhibited as one. The 88 works selected for this exhibit were chosen from 1,040 entries.
1978 "31st Mid-States Art Exhibition," Evansville Museum of Arts and Sciences, Evansville, Indiana. Juror: Horst W. Janson, art historian, professor, New York University. Professor Janson is best known for his "History of Art," a standard text in many colleges and universities. One work exhibited: Sole, bronze. The 138 works in the exhibit were selected from 724 entries.
1977 "33rd Annual Wabash Valley Exhibition," Swope Art Gallery, Terre Haute, Indiana. Juror: Richard Hunt, sculptor. One work exhibited: Predator 9, bronze, 17" x 26" x 4".

"20th Annual Beloit and Vicinity Exhibition," Wright Art Center, Beloit, College, Beloit, Wisconsin. Juror: William A. McGonagle, Museum Director, Rockford, Illinois. One work exhibited: Ripple, bronze, 14" x 21" x 1".

"Union League Three-Dimensional Art Exhibition," Union League Club of Chicago. Jurors: John Kearney, sculptor, Chicago; March Johnson, Professor, Art Institute of Chicago; and James R. Shipley, Professor, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. One work exhibited: Predator 7, bronze, 16" x 9" x 11". Purchase Award: Predator 7 was purchased by the Union League Civic and Arts Foundation for its permanent collection.
1976 "7 for '76," Seven-State Regional Art Exhibition, Eastern Illinois University, Charleston, Illinois. Juror: Robert Hughes, art critic, Time magazine. One work exhibited: Predator 9, bronze, 15" x 11_" x 3". The 124 works in this exhibit were chosen from over 1800 slide entries submitted by 500 artists.
1975 "31st Annual Wabash Valley Exhibition," Sheldon Swope Art Gallery, Terre Haute, Indiana. Juror: Robert Birmelin, Professor of Fine Arts, Queens College, New York City. One work exhibited: Predator 1, epoxy resin, 15" x 27" x 14". The 174 works by 147 artists in this exhibition were selected from over 800 entries by 393 artists.

"Rockford and Vicinity 51st Annual Jury Show," Burpee Art Museum, Rockford, Illinois. Juror: Glenn R. Bradshaw, Professor of Art, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. One work exhibited: Predator 6, bronze and wood, 60" x 10" x 10".

"3-D '75," Union League Three-Dimensional Art Show, Union League Club of Chicago, Chicago, Illinois. Jurors: John W. Parker, Sculptor, Chicago; Rita Sargent-Simon, Sculptor, Evanston, Illinois; and Robert J. Evans, Curator of Art, Illinois State Museum, Springfield, Illinois.
