Commissioned by the Capital Development Board as part of the Illinois
Percent for the Arts Program to create a piece of sculpture for the
State of Illinois Building, Chicago. One of nineteen Illinois artists commissioned
to create "focal"
pieces for the building and one of only two artists from outside the Chicago area
to be included. The works is number four in the "Raptor" series, is 84"
high including base, and was in progress for four years. Cast in
eight sections at the University of Illinois Undergraduate Sculpture foundry,
the sculpture's final assembly and finishing was completed in February
1989. The piece was installed on August 11, 1989. |
